You're welcome. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. If you know the mackie is good then I would suspect the firewire port on your motherboard is disabled or not compatible.
 
Looking in my Device Manager, my firewire card is listed as the following:
 
Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller
 
I think the key here is the 1394 firewire chip...
