Has anyone used the Auralex EZ-Stick Pro Mounting Tabs?

For years I've been struggling with adhering these panels - the regular cheap 2 X 4 panels - and foam bass traps - to walls and ceilings. I've tried the Auralux spray adhesive, Auralux caulking type adhesive, and other methods. They always strip away/fall off, however. The only success I've had is adhering them to thin particle boards and hanging those. But that method has limitations.

I'm looking for a new way. Just wondering if anyone has tried these tabs and, if so, whether they work. Alternative effective methods would be welcome as well!

As always, thank you in advance!

In other news, the Bakers are coming out with new features faster than I can learn them! 👍

I'm personally going to be mounting mine to particle board and hanging them with screws. I really don't like the idea of messing up my walls with adhesive. Especially if I decide to change the room up eventually.

I glue the foam on sheets of heavy card or stiff corrugated card then use screws and wall plugs to space that an inch or two off the walls.

A very effective and cheaper alternative is to put heavy rockwool sheets in a timber frame, cover the lot with hessian to stop fibres escaping then space that off the walls.

I use T-Pins. Got the tip on gearslutz.com

Work nicely on drywall.
I suppose they could ping at a frequency though.

I like to use the 3M "Large Picture Hanging Strips".  They work well when you add one to each corner,  also they can be removed or moved to other locations.

Same here. Mine have been up now for about a year and no issues. No pulling away from the wall, no tearing, nothing. And it makes it a lot easier to move them at a later time.

Thanks, all. Weird - I've used the 3M strips as well, but they don't stick very well to the foam (for me, at least).

Anyhow, glad to hear the Auralux tabs work. I do like mounting them on card - a couple times I've then wrapped the square in a funky cloth, like tie dye. I wonder if that negatively impacts the absorption (?)

I've been considering the rockwool/wood frame option for a while - is it difficult to make? I'm not particularly handy. I did make three so-called "BBC" diffusers a couple of years ago. I read about making them in one of the pro audio mags. They made it sound so easy. Actually, it WAS easy, but it took many many hours when all the measuring, cutting, gluing, and painting was done.

The real killer for me is getting bass traps to stick on a wall/ceiling corner, especially when the ceiling is somewhat textured (not sure what you'd call it, looks sort of like plaster). Obviously flat is better, but still, I've tried everything.

Actually, that raises the question of whether the tabs will work on my ceiling with the panels, given that the ceiling isn't perfectly flat (?).

I'll post a picture of the ceiling when I get home and I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Another issue is that an air shaft is behind the ceiling above my work station so any kind of hardware is out. I know, poor planning, but rearranging my entire studio is not an option (well, I suppose it could be, but... Ugh).

Thanks again for the helpful replies.

If you glue them onto 1" deep wooden frames, you'll actually be enhancing their effectiveness, cutting the lowest frequency they're effective at in half. That's for the thin pieces only, does not apply to corner traps.

Yep. I've got a few of them set up as well as a load of tiles. It's really not bad for a 12 ft x 12 ft room!
