Hey Audioicon,,, you need to bump those up to at least 500. 250 is the default and most people have problems with drop outs at that setting. I have mine at 1,000. It makes you wonder why Cakewalk has never upped the default?

Sorry, that was a screen shot from the Web, not my personal settings. I simply wanted to illustrate to the OP how to find the buffer settings. :)

I was having MIDI event dropouts and bumped mine up from 500 to 2500 at the suggestion of Craig A. It solved my issue and I haven’t noticed any downside at all.
