1.  I have an  older USB midi Cable and it is listed in the driver when connected as  “generic USB  Midi”.
I’m pretty sure it’s a 1.0 speed.
2.  I’ve used this generic midi  cable  for years with a digital piano without problems at all.
3.  I also have a keyboard that is a Casio ct and just  bought another midi cable, but when I connect it via USB,  the driver  indicates it is a USB midi 2.0 cable driver being used for the new cable.

As soon as the sonar is opened it shows activity in the systray-cakewalk  midi monitor, and then random sound comes from my keyboard.
3.  Also the midi indicator lamp showing output and input is continuously lit.
So I checked it with midi ox and at has continuous activity also. See pic.

4.
Cakewalk will indicate that a “smtpe time code is detected , -do I want to switch and then start playback?”
If I click “yes” the program stalls and doesn’t do anything and must be closed by the program manager unless I hit escape to stop the time(ing) process.

SO, My question is
Are there settings in sonar or my computer to fix the USB continuous SEND /RECIEVE issues when connected to Sonar or Plasma ?
( I also have cakewalk plasma and it does the same thing. (The sonar issue I have is sonar 4)
Any help is appreciated!

Check the CASIO keyboard settings to make sure the MIDI OUT is not acting as a THRU, creating a MIDI feedback loop when SONAR is auto-echoing the focused track.

I used the internal/extrenal clock sync , either didn't work , I have 3  in out and thru checked all of them (switching in out and thru -even though I know the positions of proper cable attachment .
Nothing works... I think I need to re purchase another cable.

So this is a USB-MIDI interface cable with three MIDI DIN connectors and you're only connecting IN and OUT? And the driver itself doesn't have a mode that enabled THRU on the OUT?

It might be time to spend a little more on a 'real' MIDI/Audio interface from a recognized manufacturer. But it sounds like the Casio might have issues. A USB-MIDI interface cable is not going to generate all those MIDI messages by itself. Have you tried the new cable with your old digital piano?
