  • Problem changing render bit rate when bouncing track in Manchester

Hi Everyone.

I have a project containing several vst instruments in Platinum Manchester.  I have previously bounced all of the midi/instrument tracks to their own separate audio tracks @ 16bit. I now wish to bounce them @24 bit.  I have changed the render,  record and import bit depths in Audio data settings to 24bit,  but Sonar is still bouncing the tracks @ 16bit.

I tried resaving the project and reloading the synths to no avail -  still bouncing @ 16bit.  If I start a new project,  the same  synths bounce at 24bit without issue.

Has anyone else encountered this or could someone possibly tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

I have just tested this creating new projects in both X3 and Platinum Manchester and there seems to be a problem in Manchester.  The bounce to track will only render at the original setting no matter what you change it to.  This was not the case in X3.  The render changes with the setting.

Can anyone reproduce this?

1.Create a new empty project with a bit depth setting of 16
2. Insert any VSTI (first synth audio out and midi source)  and record a short clip on the midi track
3. Select both the midi track and the synth out and chose tracks/bounce to track,  using the raw tracks present.
4. Right click on the resulting audio clip and choose associated audio files.  It will show the file has a bit depth of 16
5. Go to preferences/file/audio data,  and change the render bit depth to 24
6. Repeat steps 3 and 4. The resulting file will still have a bit depth of 16.

Hmm.

A crude workaround for this is to freeze the synth track  and then drag the audio.  The audio is then at least rendered at the chosen bit rate,  but you loose a lot of functionality in rendering options.
