Hello.  I am running Sonar Plat. Lex. under Win 7 - all 64 bits.

1) The Media Browser shows me what is on my C:/, E:/, F:/, G:/ drives, and what is on my USB external H:/ drive.  Yet my Media Browser will not show me what is in the D: drive - into which I have just loaded a commercial DVD of audio loops.  The absence of the DVD drive content remains after hitting the Refresh View button in the Media Browser.  Is it possible to use the Media Browser to see content on a DVD in the DVD drive?  Is it possible to use the Media Browser to audition audio loops on DVD in the DVD drive?

2) In the Browser, under the Media tab, there is a drop down list that has a list of file locations.  This is not a list of recently viewed locations, as it contains some locations (track templates) I have never previously viewed.  How is this list populated?  Can I select for myself which locations populate this list?

I need to add that the material on the DVD is all quickly identified as .wav files using Windows Explorer - so the DVD drive is operating fine, the DVD itself is readable, and the content on the DVD is in a format that Sonar works with.

More info:
1) The DVD I hope to use contains Sony Acid loop content.  These are audio 16-bit, 44.1 kHz .wav files.  When I launch Sound Forge, it auditions these files from the DVD drive, and loads and plays them without problem.

2) Because the Sonar Media Browser could not even view these files on the DVD, I copied a bunch of the files from the DVD to a location on my computer's HD.  The Sonar Media Browser would then allow me to view the file names, but would not audition the files.  The Sonar Media Browser will audition other audio loop content on my HDs, so I know the Media Browser Preview Bus is functioning.

3) Because the Sonar Media Browser will now allow me to view the audio files from the HD location, I tried to drag one of those files into my Sonar Project.  The Import Audio dialogue pops up, and using the Import Audio, I can navigate to the DVD drive and import the audio loop into my project.  But this is bizarre behavior: normally the Media Browser will audition audio files on the HD, and allow me to addd the files quickly to a project without the Import Audio dialogue.

Can anyone tell me what's up with the Media Browser?

Hello.  Thank you scook for your helpful reply.  So I applied the View All Files and Folders option in the Media Browser, and was then able to view files on the DVD in the DVD drive.  Plus, I could then add audio from the DVD without going thru the Import Audio dialogue.

I still could not audition audio files from the DVD drive, but I can work around this.

Thanks.

Make sure you have the Audio Preview bus assigned correctly, and its level up.
