Or did someone make a mistake sending emails?

The was confusion in several places.  The website has now been fixed.

Is this the fastest bug fix??
Still I wish if it is extended - cannot take now.

While it doesn't impact me personally, it doesn't feel good to see this, even if the errors were innocent. We all screw up and it's nice when people are generous and allow for our "humanity" and great when there can be forgiveness.

For myself, when I do make mistakes that impact people, I do what I can to make it right. The people at Cakewalk are not unreasonable and I feel confident that if anyone really impacted by the date change contacts Cakewalk directly, that the marketing team would find a way to arrange a "personal extension" for the $99 deal. I've seen them make things right in the past.

On Cakewalk side I will extend the deadline for the whole year. But on Cakewalk side I will mark the extension not from the payment day but from previous membership end date I mean the last year there was no "members only" content and I do not see they are going to change that this year. "Skipping" several months has close to no consequences, except possible delay in receiving the equal number of updates as soon as they have published (and not everyone is installing them immediately to avoid new bugs in current setup).

I am sure Cakewalk is going to "tune" the membership model with time. They have already understood that "the value" of this year is in general lower then for the last year (and so have adjusted initial prolongation price). May be they have also understood that with a plan to release new update in Mar. they should increase prolongation price before that.

So I repeat. If someone had a plan to "prolong" end of Mar, either he/she is not an "early adopter" or is not a member now. In some respect that is a "trick" to pay less. And in this case Cakewalk has right to "trick" back...

Problems with real errors in advertisements, like with XLN last time, Cakewalk is solving as it should.

Sorry AZSLOW. I beg to differ.
Its a question of announcement time. When it was 31st March some of us plan accordingly. Last moment(?) it got changed and upset the plan. If it was announced initially as Feb28, the plan could have been else. Some have been able to replan and some cannot. The 'cannot' people are the combination of following sets:
Getting membership expiring soon - and will still try to avail.
Getting membership expiring soon - and will take path of $149 when they are comfortable.
Getting membership expiring soon - and will wait for any similar offer comes up and continue with the installed.
Getting membership expiring later - and will still try to avail.
Getting membership expiring later - and will wait for any similar offer comes up and continue with the installed as they are not getting affected at least now.
Getting membership expiring later - and will take path of $149 when they are comfortable and continue with the installed as they are not getting affected at least now.
Getting membership expiring later - and will think about the path of $149 when they are comfortable and continue with the installed as they are not getting affected at least now and looking for other option as well depending on the features come up during this time.
... and more I think.

This is not to trick to play less ..
Some of us don't earn from music and still try to keep going on and need to think about conversion rate where somewhere it is 1:67 keeping busy the entire day and end of the day working with another effort of keeping the eyelids up with some unusual crashes and thinking the software doesn't have bugs only the hardware is not capable enough and restart with a hope to upgrade that too sometime when wallet permits.

This is not to trick to play less ..
If those users say its fine and we are not going to renew and we don't want the new features, but we want all the bug fixes for the software they have already paid for will Cakewalk start making two versions - "Manchester-BF", "Lexington-BF" ... etc and SPLAT-N', SPLAT-O' and so on?

All these discussion wouldn't have come up if the date  was not changed or accepted the extension back, no one would be in a position to say anything. Somewhere in some forum I have seen about the legal issue of advertising and Federal Law etc etc. But I feel time to time interaction by Cakewalk Team made the users feel as team members not customers and many of the users are psychologically attached to Cakewalk.

All these are my personal opinion. Got to go to Work [to earn!!  $149]

Speaking for myself and no one cares what I say anyway...
My decision to upgrade was made by one thing only... Cakewalk, after saying we had until March 29th to upgrade "False advertised" and changed the date to Feb 28, not even of the end of the month. I have to wonder if they even know this is a leap year...  This is truly pathetic!

I will go back to upgrading when I feel like it and NOT because I'm being manipulated to do so!

I don't blame the bakers or the CW faces we see on this forum, I'm sure they feel embarrassed just showing their faces here!

"IMO" as always...

It is still not the end of Feb, hard to call that "Last moment".

....

"Expiring soon or later" means they was not early adopters (all of them have it expired now). And I guess initial plan was to make the discount for that category (so with more than 1 month grace period, Sonar 2015 was released in Jan).

In membership model you pay for fixed period you get updates AND features. That does not include fixes after that period for free. There are many users which would prefer just fixes while ready to pay for both. But that is more work which will rise the price in general if implemented.
Cakewalk could make a "package" : "one year membership + one year free updates" for $300. Does that make sense?

While it is possible to pay $149... no one is forced. Online stores near always have reduced price.

The way I read and understand it is our original subscription date stays the same no matter when or if we renew it, which is perfectly understandable and expectable.

Moving the date up a month did have a mildly negative impact on me as I did plan my budget to up grade in the middle of March.
Truth be told, being my budget has always been rather tight this time of the year, and so I wasn't planning on upgrading anytime soon to not at all, after reading Cleverbridge's rate hike to $20 per month.
Having read about the Cakewalk direct discount I decided to go for it, even though I do my serious moves on a much more stable and trustworthy Win 7 SONAR X3 P machine, which is actually much more than anyone could ever need to record and create music in unrivaled quality, depending on experience and expertise.

That being said, I've grown to like SPLAT and the subscription plan, but I don't really need it.
But I'm not comfortable with changing my [budget] plans, again, and being a firm believer in "Murphy's Law" rushed into parting with an extra $100 unexpectedly a month early.
I wasn't planning on upgrading anytime soon to not at all anyway, so if Cakewalk renegs on the March deal offer I'll spend my extra Franklin elsewhere. :o)

It would be interesting to find out if the very mild and relatively few and far between problems I experience with SPLAT are actually just bugs in Windows 10? Only time will tell...

Encouraging, though I would prefer to get it from Cakewalk - If I wish to .... "no one is forced"

You missed the "?" mark. I wanted to mean it as relative. 1 day, 1 week, 1 month all can be last moment depending on the capability of on. For me it was One month.

I agree. But no being an early adopter is not a sin.

In membership model you pay for fixed period you get updates AND features. That does not include fixes after that period for free.

There one question has come in my mind and I couldn't find an answer.
Suppose I am not an early adopter and my subscription finishes in 6 months time. And I choose not to pay further. After this 6 months will I have a bug free SONAR Platinum staying on my PC? If so, at what point I should stop installing newer releases? As if I install a current version they will introduce new bug and fixes of some earlier bugs.
If I am happy with bug free Manchester (for example) and after 6 months of updates I revert back to earlier version they will introduce back the present bugs again, if I am not wrong.

So is it an ongoing process of subscription that you cannot quit or stop and be happy with what you have unless you accept to stay compromised with bugs?

I conclude with what I had said earlier:
"All these discussion wouldn't have come up if the date  was not changed or accepted the extension back, no one would be in a position to say anything. Somewhere in some forum I have seen about the legal issue of advertising and Federal Law etc etc. But I feel time to time interaction by Cakewalk Team made the users feel as team members not customers and many of the users are psychologically attached to Cakewalk."

Anyway I am not going to leave Cakewalk. It took more than 22 years of struggle to come back to music and Cakewalk.

Well I just hope this wasn't a data entry where a low level employee gets the axe because they um, entered data wrong and gets fired because this effects revenue projections.
We are dealing with a mega huge corporation which by no means should be confused with Wal-Mart (another problem entirely, just on another scale and plain of existence).

Please note that I'm playing a Strat in my profile pic. It's not that I don't like Gibson's, they are priced out of the range of us people who USED to be what was once considered the middle class.
One of my favorite guitars of all times was my mid 60's Gibson SG. Not even close to as durable or versatile as my "older" Fender Strat, but I loved it anyway, and I have never EVER played a Les Paul I didn't like.

That being said, I've used Cakewalk since "Pro Audio 9" and bragged about it, as well as how Cakewalk staff always participated and chimed in at this very forum, but didn't see that happen in this thread.

Or did I miss something?

Well one thing is for sure is I personally won't be a SONAR "subscription" evangelist anymore, it's seems to be Cakewalk is getting to big to fail or so they think, and that's getting outright embarrassing in other forums I participate very regularly in.
