This post should be preserved.   Great and effective illustrations.

Psst.   can we talk privately about some of my pet issues ...

What do you use to make such good animations?
I think my pet peeves may get some attention if I could present them this clearly.

Thanks all for the feedback. I really hope these bugs will be fixed soon (some of them look quite easy to fix).

I use LICEcap. It's free and very easy to use. The only thing I wish it could do is capture floating windows in the DAW. For example, you can see that it didn't capture the floating color palette in the video showing the clip foreground/background color issue.

FWIW, after recording the video, I just drag the video file from Windows explorer into imgur.com, click Start Upload, click the folder under "BBCode (Forums)," which copies the link, and then paste the link to the body of the post. Very easy.

Nice job presenting these in a very clear manner.  Hope you efforts result in fixes soon.  I have encountered several of these myself and they can really get in the way of workflow.

This sets the standard for clearly describing bugs.

As a long time user and big fan of Cakewalk, I have to express some surprise that such basic flaws haven't been fixed already.

Yes I suffer regularly from a couple of these annoyances and agree that they should be prioritized because they are such fundamental editing/arranging operations.

However, I can't help feeling that some of the bugs we perceive as being easy to fix are actually a lot more complicated under the surface. Whether thats because of bad program design, I don't know. But I remember one time reporting a very simple bug - I think it had something to do with ProChannel module on/off automation not working on SIT's unless the track's ProChannel was open in the console (or something), and a Baker told me that fixing it would break other things in the ProChannel so they were going to leave it as is.

I guess in a program as complicated as Sonar there are so many dependencies and intertwined stuff under the hood that seemingly trivial bugs may sometimes require a complete rewrite of a large area of the program. I'm not saying that they shouldn't do what's necessary, just pointing out a possible reason why certain bugs aren't prioritized given their available bug fixing resources.

I have never seen a better presentation. This should get some attention.

Yes, but the problem is that you can't be sure about it, unless you post the issue here and luckily receive a comment from a Baker. Most of us just have to wait without knowing how long the wait is going to be, since we receive no follow-up emails once the ticket is submitted to Development. The bug may be fixed within a couple of months after it was sent there, or it could take a couple of years (or more).

Also, I personally wouldn't mind about bugs in additional components such as ProChannel, Drum Replacer and VocalSync, as I'd still be able to achieve similar results by switching to the Artist version and purchasing 3rd-party plugins that are similar to those tools. In contrast, there are no such things as track folder plugins, nudge plugins and clip move plugins. I don't want to switch to another DAW just because of these smallish issues. I like SONAR overall. :-)
