Can someone please confirm in Manchester in Preferences | Devices | MIDI - does the "Move Checked Devices to Top" button work only for Outputs, not for Inputs.  Is that by design?  Has it always been that way and I've just not noticed?  Thanks.

Midi input order works as expected in Kingston.   Can't help you with M version.

Unless I am mistaken move checked devices has only ever worked on midi outputs in any version. Unlike changing the midi output order, changing midi inputs seems to have no adverse effects on projects.

It was actually always possible to amend this in the TTSSEQ.ini file manually (it gets rewritten if you save MIDI config changes though) - don't know if this still works in Platinum (I no longer have enough MIDI input devices for this to annoy me :-)).

Brilliant.  I'll check this out in Manchester.  Thank you!

You can still re-order the midi inputs in Platinum etc by modifying ttseq.ini.  Just change the order under [Midi Input devices] towards the bottom of the document (not [midi in device map] ) You will need to restart Sonar once the changes are made. The new order will not show up under the check boxes in preferences,  but it will in the drop down menu where you choose inputs for your midi track.

The ability to move checked devices to top has only ever worked on the midi outs.. and frankly should be on audio in, audio outs as well as midi ins and outs..
it has been logged as a bug (for the midi) and a feature request (for audio) for several years that i know of..but continually ignored..and now possibly even totally forgot about, but as a user with 20+ inputs and outputs is frustrating to wade through pages to check exactly what is on or off.

Perhaps its time for these both to appear in the bugs & feature request section (again)

I am not sure it is a bug mystic 38 -  I think it is only intended to work on the midi outputs.  You can re-order and store all of your midi and audio I/O using the ttseq.ini file though.  I switch between interfaces a lot and just load up the appropriate ttsiq.ini file.
