Hello,

If I am using Ozone to master a track in Sonar and use the internal dither in Ozone, when exporting my mix to a WAV file, dither in Sonar should be disabled, correct?
Is there any dither that is better than the other?  Should the Sonar one be used or the Ozone?
Thanks!

Better is subjective in music. An A/B will give you your answer.

But yes, the concept of dithering kinda means only using one at a time.

I use triangular when I bounce and powr3 when I export.

why twice?

It won't be audible on a thirty two bit file where the loudest moment uses almost every available bit. It gets me another dB of clean sound, so I do it. None of the dither from the bounce will be included in the 24 bit export. It really doesn't matter. I do it as a matter of principal.

When I expect to dither again, I use unshaped.

At the risk of stating the obvious, you should only dither ONCE and that's when you're exporting (or bouncing) with a different bit depth to the original.

If there's nothing left to dither, won't the second dither leave the data untouched? Like a second bw limiter? Not a perfect analogy, but you get the picture.

Dither adds noise.

Yes, that's correct, dither adds noise and you might not notice it at first but it will be more obvious at the fadeout of a song.

Dither once at your last point of export.

And on a side note, it the wave file or project you are working on is already at the sample and bit rate you are shooting for say 44/16 CD quality, then my advice would be to not dither at all.

Answer to #1
Yes

Answer to #2
I prefer to Dither at Ozone, and also engage DC Offset in Ozone.
