Good lord this reminds me of when I first bought my GR 50 thinking it would be easier now to play my Bass parts for my backing tracks. I soon returned to using my keyboard because the guitar synth created a zillion events which back then (1986) it could cause all sorts of havoc. Stuck notes and filling up precious disk space being some. You were lucky to get 12 songs on a floppy disk without optimizing.
This of course should no longer be an issue but old habits die hard and I'm still a stinker about unwanted midi events.
Some great tips noted above.
Her's one of mine, open the event list and set the filters to controller data and delete stuff you don't need.
With a keyboard you play an "A" and you get an A event. With a guitar synth you get 600 pitch bend CC events as well. So if the part is not in need of minor pitch bending delete it in the event list. Of course the other filters will work too, there's always 3-4 ways to do the same thing in Sonar.
