I am having problems with Z3TA+ 2.1 seemingly due to processor insuficiency. I will be updating my cpu's to faster ones shortly, but it sems odd that a computer with 2 x 8 core 2Ghz processors and 16 GB PC1333 DDR3 RAM and a ssd as well as a 4 disk RAID using 6GB/s Western Caviar Bl.ack Enterprise 7200 RPM dires in a stripped config. should be having any problem. Has anyone elso run into this with CPU's that are 2 Ghz or less? I will be getting either; 2 x 8 core 3.0 Ghz/3.3Ghz Turbo/and 3.6Ghz Turbo+; or 2 x 16 core 2.6 or 2.7 Ghz/3.0 or 3.1 Ghz Turbo/3.3 or 3.4 Ghz Turbo+ CPU's with 128GB DDR3 PC1600 RAM(the 16 core figures are for 2 different cpu's that have a price difference that doesn't seem worth the 0.1 Ghz speed difference) I am asking this because I would like to know if it is in fact just a matter of CPU speed or if it might be something else that others have run into with faster CPU's. I ran into the same thing with the older version of the same program but not as often. It only happens on some sounds. Does anyopne know if Z3TA+ 2.1 can use more than one core and if it is a multithreaded program? Thanks. I am new here and I hope this hasn't been asked before. I looked, but found nothing. I have to admit that I only looked for 10 or 15 minutes.
Peace,
Brian

Hvae you tried turning down the output gain of Z3ta?.. most of the presets run real hot and quite possibly you are mistaking distortion due to overload for something else...

Yes, but thanks for the tip. I generally use a Soft tubes FET limiter on programs like Z3TA, or just turn it down like you suggested. I use a MOTU PCI-e sound card with a 1- 24 i/o and 1- 2408 mk3 box so I have outboard meters to gauge the output by as well.
Peace,

Perhaps take a peek at the ASIO buffers then?.. I am reticent to think its cpu restricted on your system..

I've run into this sometimes w/ sounds that have a high polyphony. Try playing w/ the "precision" settings under the options menu. When I run into this issue I usually lower the settings, then once I've got the sound how I want I increase the settings back to where I want them and freeze the track. Not sure why it does this though.
