Hi. I am just guessing that SONAR.exe is still running in the background, and has lost its connection (due to sleep mode). Try killing it (SONAR) in task manager, and reopen SONAR.
All the best.

did you try this?

Yes. Zargg was right. Thanks Zargg!

You are most welcome

I don't know if it is stated anywhere, but sleep mode and Sonar do NOT get along - never did.

Many of us seem to go into power management options and turn off all sleep mode stuff.

Thanks Bob, though again, it worked before fine. Can you imagine why this might have started now?

If you avoid sleep mode, does this mean you fully power down when finished a session, and boot up when you want to resume working?  Or do you just leave your PC on?

I've never encountered a program which demands this kind of treatment.

Zarrg, thanks for your post as well -- I'll check and see next time if what you say is the case.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - I use a desktop primarily, and it is on and used for around 14-16 hours a day, and I usually just leave it on all the time.  Sometimes, if I am working on a big project, I will reboot, and get a nice fresh set of everything in memory.  That's likely just a brain cleanse for me, rather than absolutely required, but why not....

I don't know about 'aging' a computer by leaving on versus shutting down or sleeping - I figure a laptop will last about 3-4 years before I end up wanting or needing a new one.  Others may have better awareness of the pros and cons of the different approaches.

I put Sonar to sleep many times a day with no problems.  Every time I get up from my desk, it's just a habit and I have a button on my keyboard to do it.  I always have Sonar open on a scratch project to try out things mentioned in this forum.  My everyday asio interface is shared peacefully between Windows and Sonar.  Sometimes my monitor/screen won't come back on after sleep, but that is fixed with a quick ctl-alt-del that that turns it back on with the windows user screen (and I blame AMD for that).

Maybe it makes a difference that I always put Windows to sleep manually.  I don't rely on it timing out.

This is not isolated to Sonar....most high performance software running in Windows don't tolerate sleep mode very well.

Depends on the (audio) interface - my MOTU USB didn't used to like sleep at all but now it works fine after manual or automatic sleeping.
