I have Son X3 Prod. I have been trying to get a side chain going for a project. I have seen a couple of videos but they don't seem to work the same way in my setup. I don't know why.
 
Is it best to use a separate BUS or use the PC4KS in Pro Channel? Online Literature is vague for setting this up.
 
I just want to side chain Bass to make room for Kicks in the mix. 

I use the Sonitas comp in the strip I want ducking because old habit die hard

Got it! I figured out using the Pro Channel PC4KS in SC mode. I just had to select from the correct bus. I created a Bass Bus, added PC4KS from PC. Selected Sidechain ON. Went to my Kick track, assigned the input from the Bass bus compressor (insert Send option> navigate to input 2 Bass Bus compressor). On the Kick track, set to Pre fade and then the Amount. Pretty sure that's how it went. It works though.
 
Part of what messed with me was having too many instances of the compressors in PC from various tracks to choose from in the drop down option at insert send. Just a matter of finding the correct one.
