Hey all--

I went ahead and paid for an upgrade from Melodyne 3 Essentials to Editor. What happens when I upgrade Sonar Platinum to Manchester as far as Melodyne is concerned? Will my 3 Editor and 4 Essentials both be available, or whaaa?

Just want to make sure nothing gets whacked!

Thanks,

Stephen

There's no Melodyne Editor 3, there was a Melodyne Studio 3 and a Melodyne Editor/Assistant/Essentials 2. If you upgraded to Editor 4 now you should install the new software and it will replace the older one.

Hi. I have read recent threads, that had problems with M4 (Melodyne 4) opening projects with (earlier versions of) Melodyne that had been saved without rendering clips. I have had none, after updating to M4.
If you have the chance, render and save projects before opening with the new M4.
All the best.

Nothing happens when upgrading SONAR. The Melodyne upgrade is handled directly with Celemony. Celemony provides all users of Melodyne Essential a free upgrade to Melodyne 4 Essential. Other versions of Melodyne are a paid upgrade. Upgrading to Melodyne 4 requires surrendering your Melodyne 2 license. Your options are:
1) stay with Melodyne 2 Editor or
2) purchase the upgrade to Melodyne 4 Editor or Melodyne 4 Studio.

CORRECTION: I upgraded to Melodyne editor 2.x retail. Sorry, I'm not in front of my DAW now.

Am I losing any functionality from Melodyne 2.x retail to Melodyne 4 Essential bundled with Manchester?

Thanks!

Cakewalk supplies 1 license to Melodyne per SONAR license. You do not receive an additional Melodyne license when upgrading from X3. Melodyne 4 Essential just like Melodyne 2 Essential does not have the polyphonic algorithms provided in Editor. I am not sure if Celemony permits downgrading to Melodyne 4 Essential. If they do, I do not see the value in doing it.

Hi Razor.
As scook said there is no real value in downgrading from editor 2 to essential 4 -  too many lost features. There are great deals around on the Editor 2 to studio 4 upgrade though for around $125. Here's  one (price is reduced when added to cart) :

OK, that functionality between Melodyne versions is very clear now. Thanks.

Just to confirm on a technical level, if I elect to upgrade Sonar Platinum to Manchester and keep my Melodyne 2 editor, I should have no problems doing that. Did I understand correctly?

Sorry if I'm being dense.

That's correct Razor.  Your melodyne licence will not change and editor 2 will work the same as it always has in Manchester.
