If you feel like spending even more, the upgrade to Studio 4 is really well priced right now. Right now the difference within Sonar is in some workflow enhancements, cool sound design possibilities, a few extra algorithms and the possibility to see "reference tracks" in Melodyne, e.g. for when you have to "aim" backing vox at a lead part. It was implied that true multitrack editing might be possible in the future (e.g. for multi-tracked drums). In fact it already is but not through ARA, so you'd have to manually transfer audio.

Plus being ensured of continued support with the latest version of course.

Editor 2 is still a great product by the way, it's just a good deal to go to the top version at the moment.

Ya know, when I first got X3 there was an option to upgrade Melodyne for a reduced price for a limited time. I thought, meh, I've got V-Vocal. Why do I need to uograde? I figured it out after the price discount was over, so I'm thinking about upgrading whilst there a deal.

I have to see if the added features from 2 to 4 are worth it now.

My advice would be to not even mess with essentials 4. If memory recalls, I had some authorization issues when I did that with Melodyne 2. I downloaded essentials as part of a rolling update, and it overwrote my authorization for 2 editor. I got it figured out, and Celemony was cool about it, but it was still a pain.

I upgraded to Studio 4 (from Editor 2) a few weeks ago.  That gave me version 4.0.2.1.  Having seen mention in a couple threads here that Celemony had issued an update, yesterday I downloaded Studio 4 again from my Celemony account.  Lo and behold, it is version 4.0.2.3.  (Haven't installed it yet, but a file compare shows that indeed the .cab files differ between the two.)  Despite the one or two hints in this forum that there was an update, I've not seen any mention on the Celemony site itself that they have in fact substituted the previous "Studio 4" build with a newer one, or what the difference between the two might be.

FWIW.  Would appreciate hearing if anyone knows what changes were made.

Ditto - I didn't even know there was an update.

Aside from one glitchy session (last night) where nothing in MD seemed to work right, resolved by re-starting SONAR, I haven't had any issues with v4.   Great $150 investment IMO.
