Ok, I opened a track that I have been working on.  The midi tracks are all virtual controller input through midi Omni to addictive drums 2.1.  the meters run but how do I get them out to the drum bus?  There should be one of the midi tracks that has an out to something aside from addictive drums - right?  this routing thing on midi, mental corundrum.  all help is appreciated- thanks in advance!

To get midi to turn into Audio here is the signal chain:
Midi controller --> midi track --> Addictive Drums (inserted onto and audio track) --> Drum Bus --> Master Bus --> Audio Interface

If you want to hear what you play from the controller, you need to make sure Input Echo is turned on.

echo is on .  the next project has virtual controller as the input and the drum bus as the output.  the meters don't even run.  Really confusing.  the documentation doesn't seem to address this adequately for me to get it evidently. Thanks everyone.

When you open up addictive drums in a new synth track and how it will play the kit or the beats, nothing.  It is like is is not engaging.  Is there something I shut off or went off on it's own?  Randy

weird, the focusrite was not in the audio listing as a scarlett line out, which obviously disabled the sound engine. learning as we go.  Thanks Randy

Can you list out your signal chain (like the example I gave)?

So I got it to work.  It didn't have my interface in the signal chain- audio interface. I shut my computer off and restarted it and amazingly it worked as it recognized my usb interface. I was fine. So it is a very bizarre deal  but what I learned was if you plug in a usb interface into a computer that is already on and doesn't boot up with the interface connected you have to have the interface in the preferences>audio devices. If it is not listed then it won't work.  I haven't tried to run platinum through my internal soundcard on my laptop while I am working (at my business) just to work on drum tracks or cutting and pasting. too busy-will see.  thanks so much for caring.  I will check about how it works moving forward.  All I know is that it is a substantial program compared to x3- more computer pull.
