Guys,

Former user of Sonar for over a decade here... Just wondering if I should buy Sonar Artist (no need for a deeper version for now), but need to know first if this version is capable of exporting to OMF (or ideally AAF) ?  And, as for importing those formats ?

In the ''formats'' section of features list, there is no mention of this - for neither of the 3 versions ... (I used to be able to do this with X1, X2 in the past... Has this been removed ? )

Thanks
Rob

Platinum can export to OMF. I don't think Artist can.

Never seen a copy of Artist myself. There is no indication the feature is version specific. Usually the documentation flags features which are not available in all versions. If it was in the entry versions of the X series, it should still be in Artist. There is a demo available. While the demo cannot save, it should be able to import. OMF only, no AAF support regardless of the version.

AAF is Avid / Pro Tools only..Just had to convert one today to an OMF for Sonar.

AAF is not just Avid. Its the replacement for OMF and I wish CW would add to to its export and import file types.

From what I understand Apple helped develop it. Avid may have had something to do with it too. But its not controlled by them.

Samplitude Pro X2 supports it Studio one 3 does not. Some do some don't.

Huge variations in implementation between AAF files means many NLEs/DAWs are unable to read each other's files. We are able to read AAFs from Auria, Automatic Duck, Avid Media Composer / Symphony, Nuendo, ProTools, STP, Vegas & Sam X2Pro.
That is a quote from AAtranslator on the link you supplied.

Cubase is unlisted too.
