I had a friend bring her daughter over today to record a few songs to put on CD. I clicked the burn option from the utilities menu and nothing happened.

Any idea why this would happen?

Also, I have an older version of the MP3 encoder. When I try to apply it to X3 it can't find the proper path. Is this something that has to be purchased with each version?

Contact support to get an updated mp3 unlock tool. No need to purchase it again.

I'm taking it for granted that you have done it before - but - just checking?   Did you first export what you recorded to a wave or MP-3 file and during that process check the little box at the bottom for it to go to the utility file for burning???

Then and only then can you burn from the utility file - unless you add/upload the song from another folder, etc...

I'm sure you probably did - just checking...

When I need to burn a CD with the music from Sonar..... I simply export the tracks from Sonar into a new desktop folder. I then open my third party CD burner software, and set up the songs I want in the proper order and click burn. It does a flawless job that way.

I don't use the mp3 conversion or the wave burn function from inside Sonar. It's always done outside of Sonar with a 3rd party application.

Did you follow these directions...

  1. Make sure the tracks you wish to burn to CD have been saved as 16-bit, 44,100 Hz, stereo Wave (.wav) files.
  2. Insert a blank CD-R disc in the destination drive.
  3. Open the Audio CD Burner dialog box.
  4. Select a destination CD writing drive using the Target Drive dropdown list.
  5. Click Add Track to locate and import the audio Wave files you wish to burn to CD.
  6. Place the tracks in the desired order by using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
  7. Click Burn CD.

Thanks for the replies. The files were all saved properly and I am able to burn CD's with the saved files using a 3rd party burn utility. The problem is the "Audio CD Burner dialog box" never comes up when selected from the menu.

Honestly, this is the first time I've tried using this function, so I don't know if it is something new or an previously existing issue. Seems pretty straight forward as you guys pointed out, open> select> burn, but it just doesn't come up.

Export as 16/44.1 and then burn the Cd's. The dialog box is not opening because the audio files are not CD Standard 16/44.1. when you do that, it will open and recognize it

The dialog box never opens to select anything. I installed X3 on my laptop and the dialog box opens regardless if it's a blank project or audio loaded/recorded.
