When I tried to export to mp3 it says I should unlock the mp3 encoder by going to cakewalk.com. Well I have and cannot find anything about it.

Help anyone?

It is available at the Cakewalk store. Be careful when purchasing, there are two versions at the store. Here is a post describing how to find the correct version http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3273106

Or you can add an external encoder or export waves and convert them to mp3 outside of SONAR.

Hi thanks

It says in the description that it is for Sonar X1-3 and older. Is it still fine for Platinum?

Yes, that is the unlock program for Platinum. CW needs to update the description.

You can buy the one from the cakewalk store, or If ou have the Sonar DVD, you can get the lame mp3 from the DVD or install it from the lame site.

visit the site, http://lame.sourceforge.net/using.php for how to use lame

Really, this is an unbelievable pain in the ass. I can't figure out why an encoder isn't built into Sonar, since virtually everybody uses one.

It is explained elsewhere but basically it is an unavoidable 3rd party licencing issue
