Just a question to the OP. If you hit 's' 'ctrl-z' and 'r', won't you start recording from the point at which you stopped, rather than automatically returning to the point where you started that initial recording? If there is a way to have the stop followed by undo automatically return the now time to the start of the recording I would be happy just to be able to do that.
