  • Manchester - Audio engine often does not play sound

During editing, to hear what I have done so far, I put the Now cursor one or two clips back and hit the spacebar to play.

Very often, instead of my audio, I hear a digital whine similar to when you have a digital earth loop or an open cable running near a monitor or some digital equipment. It is not very loud.

So I hit spacebar to stop, the Now cursor jumps back to where it started from, I hit spacebar again, and my audio plays normally!

I carry on editing, everything is fine for a while, I can hear my audio, then suddenly it happens again.

Very strange.

I am assembling a song from split clips I made from live recordings. In this I am using straight tracks, not comping tracks.

I have two projects open at the same time. I am dragging clips from the original recording and dropping them in the new project. Everything is straight audio clips, no plugins, nothing.

This has been happening for some time when copying clips between two open projects. Not entirely sure which version it started in, but it is annoying! I posted about it some time back but no one else seemed tt be having the same issue.

I suspect they might be very different issues to the OP's Pink cigar. This is a noise that happens when restarting playback after switching between 2 open projects. Stop/start of payback fixes the issue.

Yes! I get exactly this too, high-pitched noise that happens the first time after I switch between projects but is then fixed on subsequent plays.

I haven't experienced this, but I predicted it when they announced "route anywhere from anywhere".

I believe it was happening before patch points were introduced. Nothing to do with patching - everything to do with switching between 2 open projects.

On second listening, what I think is happening is it is playing a very short loop of the track. So short that it sounds like a high-pitched buzz rather than a sound.

I speculate it is just filling the buffer and looping that.
