  • [Solved] Manchester and CC Update Dropped Me Into Demo Mode?

OK...

What did I do wrong this time?

On my laptop install...

CC update sat spinning forever waiting for the download to start so I manually downloaded both the Sonar update and the CC update...

I had already run the Manchester update and I didn't looke to see, but this may have happened at that point...

I tried allowing CC to install the update though I manually placed it in the downloads folder... It still kept spinning forever at the download percentage 0 message.... So I stopped and went to manually run CC update only to discover the file was now corrupted... This copy worked fine on my desktop so I think CC corrupted itself, but I will post that separately...

So, I copied the file back over itself on this machine and manually ran CC update successfully... It checked for updates etc....

I closed it and ran Sonar.... Looking at the About box, my copy suddenly says DEMO Mode!

What might I do to fix this?

Thanks...

Is your laptop connected to the internet ?

You can activate offline, but I haven't done it (you probably have in the past ?)

So these monthly updates require monthly activations ?

Thanks Paul....

Yes, the laptop is and I've been activated for the past year with continuous updates well into the future! :-)

It got changed from owned back to demo somehow?
I have not needed to re-activate it on my DAW which is not web connected.... Why would I need to here. It requires that if you're on the monthly plan and maybe when your year finished for those of us lucky enough to buy it in full at the beginning of the year. Maybe it will need to at it's crossover date, but that's not for more almost 2 months from now...

I was just thinking....

Hmmm...

On my DAW (win7Pro x64) update of CC, it prompted me to reboot the machine which I did...
On the laptop (win8 x64) it did not and I wrote that off to the OS difference....

Wrong!

I thought to try rebooting the laptop and sure enough, Sonar now reports proper ownership...

Thanks....

I'll mark the thread solved...

Good news.  I've gotten into the habit of rebooting after program changes just to make sure, but I don't always remember to do it.

Also good to hear that each monthly update doesn't require reactivation.  I'm still on my first version/update so haven't gone through an update yet, and don't plan to for the time being.
