sure you can,if you have any wireless devices like a wireless connection or bluetooth be sure to temporarly disable them in device manager.
what software will you be using?
something like sonar home studio and a working everyday daw works good.
even sonar x1 would as well there are just more resources and synths plug ins to play with therefor sometimes leading us to use more things putting more stress on our systems.
i used an i3 intel toshiba laptop as both mt daw and everyday surfer for a while before i swallowed a bullet and built 2 of them,both for digital audio recording.
when i did it i just made the small modifications like turning off bluetooth devices.wireless internet,turn off your anti virus is another one,you dont want anti virus doing a scan when your trying to record or mix down your next hit record.
