Is it possible to record in Sonar with a Headset mic?   Does it need to be USB like a Logitech H340 or 390 or can it be an 1/8" mic jack plug type of headset?   I just tried the latter - a 1/8" mic jack plug type of headset setup and Sonar didn't recognize it.   I'm using Sonar X3e on a Windows 7/64bit computer.

SONAR won't "recognize" the mic - but should recognize the input it is plugged into if the soundcard is selected in SONAR. However, without a preamp you might not get enough volume for an acceptable signal.

How would Sonar profile a USB mic headset - or would it recognize one of those at all?

Wouldn't recommend any type of USB mic. Essentially the USB mic appears as an audio interface. Sometimes using apps like ASIO4ALL to enable asio compatibility. (But, unless you're doing very basic transcription type work I wouldn't recommend a headset mic (with an 1/8" plug) either.)

OK, I was just going to use it to record some radio work for a show - and was seeing if it would work with a headset mic when I'm away from my regular interface box and studio setup.

The drivers for such equipment are often only a handful of bit-depth/sample rates. Depending on application, ones that blindly attach to Windows seem to be least trouble, but often default to 16-bit/44Khz without much ability to alter it (or reduce latency).
