Melodyne 4 Studio does not "require" iLok. I'm running it on two computers without any iLok dongle

That was my understanding also, that you have a choice.  If I license on one computer without an iLok, and then decide to buy an iLok later, is it easy to move the license to the iLok so I can use the software on multiple machines?

There is a choice in your account to move the license to an Ilok. Once you move it to Ilok you can't move it back.

Thanks.  You are talking about the Celemony account?

On edit -- I now see that in my Celemony account.  If you launch the stand-alone Melodyne and go to the Help-License (I think that's the one) menu, the option is there.

Do you know if you can import the tempo map that Melodyne 4 can create into the Sonar tempo map? Like Studio One can?:

I'd like to know this too

Fabio - you gotta fix the quotes and /quotes
I agree with Fabio though. It will work fine (I was in the exact same situation) - the Editor 2 license is a "real" license, and will upgrade fine. It works fine in SONAR - just don't install the "Essentials 4" when that gets bundled. This is no different than not letting SONAR touch your Editor 2 version - like you do now.

3) How will I ever figure out how to use this stuff?  Those Celemony guys are freaking geniuses.

That is the $99,000 question ;-)
I, for one, won't be figuring it out for a while...

jbraner, I had Essentials 2 installed along side of Editor 2. Now it's Studio 4 and of course Essentials 2. Why do you advise not installing Essentials 4 when it comes out? - quote usage ok? lol

Hi Fabio,
I didn't know it was possible to have two version installed side by side.
For me, the Editor ver 2 overwrote the Essentials ver 2 (Cakewalk version) - and now this time the Studio ver 4 overwrote the Editor ver 2.
also - I'm using the ilok version - so there was no question about it - you surrender the ver 2 license and replace it with the ver 4 one.

So - I wasn't really advising. For me I didn't have any choice in the matter

I just upgraded to the studio version, the tempo detection worked fine recording my acoustic guitar. You can export the tempo map as a midi file which you would then just load the midi file first into Sonar to create the tempo map.
(You have to do this is the stand alone version of Melodyne ).

That sounds like a reasonable workaround, but it would be even more brilliant if it could all be done internally with Studio running as a plugin. Hmm. I'm going to install the demo and play around a bit...

+1 to that. However in plugin mode it uses the host tempo and there is no controls to change the tempo in the plugin. That would be a nice feature request though.
