Noel Borthwick [Cakewalk]
HI guys,

We realize that users want periodic updates to the Mackie control dll. To facilitate this we are planning on open sourcing SONAR's mackie control surface. There are several developers in the SONAR community and a few have expressed interest in maintaining and updating this. We're still working through some details but I'll post an update when I have some more details.
Well also be releasing the current version of the control surface API that has access to more SONAR specific parameters, Prochannel etc.

thanks,
Noel

Thank you Noel for addressing this topic.  Glad to hear that this dll will get open sourced.  While I'm not a developer for this sort of thing, I do a good bit of website php coding and my background was in development back when my career started with my CIS degree with programming as the focus, so I can understand some of the intricacies of what goes into something like this - probably why I'm a little more sensitive to changes that "break" stuff.

Thanks again - looking forward to what the community can bring to this support, hopefully sooner than later!

I posted this is the wrong thread. It should be here.

I apologize to all in this thread I must have misread this thread and thought it was about not being able to connect.

If you know me you also know I am a strong supporter of the MC and have repeatedly asked for updates to the DLL. What is being said here is close to my heart. I support this thread completely.

+3 or 4 or whatever we're up to.    My needs are minimal - currently using a BCF2000 - but the idea of being able to customize what controls what sounds really interesting...

Noel strikes again! Add my +1 to the list, it's fantastic news. Looking forward to this one.

If I may, in lieu of the open source community taking charge here, could I request the optional ability to view tracks on the mcu while simultaneously display busses on the xt, or vice versa? Apologies to all for hijacking the thread.

Great news! I'd be interested in working with the code and/or helping to maintain it. There's just so many ways to customize a control surface and people tend to have personal preferences that may not be mainstream. It's difficult to please everyone, and costly too. An open sourcing of the surface code might just allow willing volunteers to provide a greater level effort and free the CW dev's to concentrate on the core Sonar product.
