  • Win 10 - Why Leave Win 7? (p.19)

Windows 10 is much like Sonar in regards to the lame color choices. Is there a conspiracy to take the color customization away from everything?

I have been using Windows 10 since it was released and a non-DAW, but as I stated in previous posts on this thread, I'm not reformatting an older DAW box merely because there is a new OS.

We don't have to agree to disagree, the stats are here, as I said look out for windows 8.0 and 8,1 and add them together, then compare it to all the other OS's apart from Windows 7 which clearly has a stranglehold:

(p.s. I you get a yellow screen of death, copy and paste the link to another tab (a refresh won't work weirdly)).

Agree with DA above...
I've been using Windows since 3.1.  If you are in this for the LONG HAUL, you need to keep up with the new technology... new hdwe and drivers, software innovations, core and supporting OS processes... you may be happy for a few years, but then things stop working good and there is no fix to it cause you have an 'oudated' and unsupported OS.  You may as well bite the bullet and get it for free, maybe a few months down the road so they get the major bugs worked out.  Some of us are techno-geeks and want the latest stuff right away... I don't mind working thru these issues but I know many don't want to deal with it.  There's not much in Win 10 as far as WOW factor features, so that should not be your reason. If you wait until Windows 12 or so, you'll need to buy the new OS and reload everything, hoping your old programs and equipment will run on it, which is something I'd rather NOT do.  How many older music editing files have I lost since starting music production using Win 95??? A lot.  Update your old files to the latest version or someday they will be useless.

I hated Windows 8 when I first got it ….it certainly took me a long while to warm up to it …
One day while I was using it ,
I made the connection in my mind that the Win 8 start page w all the tiles and stuff was just a poorly executed
hybrid of a Windows style take on the OSX Launchpad and Dashboard combined together at the same time …
That may or may not be what they had in mind , but that is sure what it reminded me of….
After it loads I just hit enter and go straight to desktop 99% of the time …
I got used to not having a start menu and I don't even miss it ….

I got to say the OS itself under the hood seems rock solid …I've throw everything including the kitchen sink at it .
Win 8 hasn't tapped out on me yet …I guess if I had to , I can probably stay on 8 …

Same here..

And for those who still don't like it there is a start menu... I wonder how many overlooked it.

I'm on build 10525 which provides a look at some color customization abilities, so hang tight, it's coming to an update near you.

Oh, and I really like Cortana. The voice recognition works amazingly well, and she takes verbal abuse quite gracefully.

Advertisers will also be glad you like cortana, because she's going to spread everything you do on your computer all over the internet.

Advertisers already know everything I do.  I figure if I inundate them with data they will scream bloody uncle!
