  • NI Replika 1.2.2 crashes Sonar - Plugin Rollback Required to 1.2.1! (p.4)

I'm a little late to this game, but I'm posting in the interest of contributing to solving this problem.   I haven't used Replika since I first installed around last Christmas (hey, life happens), but I tried to use this week and it crashes Sonar Platinum (Foxboro) every time, referring me to the fault reporter.   I did research which led me to this thread (a NI thread referred me here) and long story short, I downgraded to Replika 1.2.1 and voila.....everything works again.   I'll just have to remember to ignore the 1.2.2 upgrade in NI Service Center.  Thanks Doktor Avalanche!

How do you rollback to 1.2.1 if you only have 1.2.2 on the machine? I had my initial 1.2.0 that I installed over 1.2.2 but not sure where to get 1.2.1.

Can somebody do me a favour?

Could somebody open a project with 64 bit NI Replika in Sonar Platinum? Make sure NI service center and CCC are fully up to date first. Event viewer shows MSVCR120.dll error which usually means a reinstall of C++ libraries, however this crash is happening since latest Sonar Platinum. I have tried running Sonar as Administrator/not as Administrator. Windows Update is fully up to date (Windows 8.1).

Just wondering if others can repro or not before I attempt to take any further action.

Thanks...

EDITED TO CHANGE SUBJECT TITLE

Yes. I went to load Replika into a track last night and it crashed instantly (Splat Fox x64). I filed a report too. Also up to date on all NI, Win7x64.

Check rest of the thread we reached a conclusion. Def a NI issue I'm afraid although the latest update is not important anyway... Cheers...

Having said that Maschine has a similar C++ issue and other daws don't experience the issue. Hmm.

Yes saw that finally. I have a bad habit of responding too quickly when reading a thread on the bus on the way home from work. I hardly ever do it from a PC but it's just enough of a pain on the phone that I'm tempted to make that mistake.

Ditto. We will shake hands on that one :)

Ok confirmed, I have rolled back and it works.

NOT A SONAR issue.. Replika 1.2.2 is buggy with Sonar.

I fixed it by.
Full uninstall of Replika.
Install of main Replika app.
https://www.native-instru...cts-serials-downloads/
Add patch for Replika 1.2.1 (avoid 1.2.2!):
https://www.native-instru...pdates/?search=replika
Run NI service and enter serial.
Rescan plugins in Sonar.

Note you might be able to just run the 1.2.1 patch and it might roll back, but I didn't take that path.

Cheers..

That did the trick! Thanks Doc and everyone else who chimed in and helped.

Peace!

It's accurate though, the update breaks mainly Windows computers. The issue is not only to do with Sonar.

I notice with NI there are quite a few Windows specific bugs with their products hanging around (I don't see Mac specific issues), Maschine for instance has had a MIDI Out port bug for years and crashes Sonar when opening projects under certain conditions (related to C++ libraries as well)... I guess their QA is more Mac centric.
