Yes, X3 does that. Mine does, too. Was a frequent topic of discussion back then. It was long ago, but I recall certain video systems were to blame.

It's really long ago. I think all that was needed was to install up-to-date video drivers for the video card/laptop video system.
Would Platinum behave the same way as X3 with the same faulty drivers?
One would need to try, but it's tending to the probable that it would.
If you're really curious, download the Platinum demo and try.

For those who prefer to read rather watching videos, the issue is that waveforms can disappear at certain zoom levels with Audiosnap enabled and showing transient markers.

This is an old issue with Audiosnap that may also be related to waveform display with stretched audio and/or tempo changes. There have been a number of fixes in this area. over time. I can't say you'll never see it in Platinum, but I haven't seen it for a long time.

I'm not aware that video hardware/drivers were ever proven to have a bearing on this. It's more project-specific than anything.

Here's one old reference:

Well, I have X3e installed and haven't seen it in a long time there, either.
But what exactly I did to fix it, I do not recall.
