Sorry for a loaded question, but it's brought me nothing but misery and I'd love to figure out why. I've been using Cakewalk since PA 9. PA9, Sonar 1/3/5/8.5, not so much as a hiccup. A thousand tracks, I'm a power user and a pro. Really, not one problem. In the year that I've had X3, it's been nothing but problems. I'm I the only one, is there a curse on my X3?

The biggest: I cannot get the prochannel eq settings to "stay", they flatline on pretty much every single project. I've asked here many times, no responses. Is there something I am doing to trigger this? The product is basically unusable at this point- I spend a half-hour with eq settings, the next time I open the project= gone. Flat lines, prochannel is still "on" but the eq is a flat line on EVERY track.
I don't wish to be melodramatic here, but do I need to use another program? It makes no sense. Any help would be great, I have an album that's about finished and I can't do it because of this damn eq problem. Thanks.

The answer to your issue is in your post. One thousand tracks is one heck of a lot.  Too many for any DAW I know of. Most DAWs stream audio from disk. I think that number is excessive.

Does X3 Studio stink?

Depends what you rubbed on it, or dropped it in?...

Sorry, I could have worded that a lot better. I was touting my experience in saying that I've done 1000 "projects" with Cakewalk over the years. My track count is usually less than 40.

I've done all the diagnostics tests on my computer, it seems fine. I use Sibelius even more than Sonar, I have no problems and it's a fairly demanding program when loaded with orchestral samples. I don't have problems with anything else, just Sonar.  Thanks for responding.

Do you have the latest update installed (X3e)?  Also, how about O.S. updates?

I used X3e for quite a while. For me it was probably one of the best versions of Sonar/Cakewalk Pro Audio that I've had over the years. Stability wasn't as high as the old days and the shift from layers to take lanes in the X series messed up a lot of the way I had previously liked to work, but I don't recall having trouble with parameters not saving or any other data loss bugs.

X3e, Windows 10. Computer is a Quad core with 8 gigs ram.

Other parameters like volume etc. seem to carry over. It's the eq, and I really can't figure it out. I've also had some corrupt tracks, several crashes, etc. I can deal with that but the eq is a real head scratcher. Is there any function that I'm unaware of that would zero out all eq settings and I'm somehow hitting it by mistake? Thanks.

I hate to suggest this, but you might consider trying a one-month upgrade to Sonar Plat/Pro.  I believe it can exist side by side with your X3 installation.  If the problem goes away, then, well, you have a decision to make.

I wonder if there's some conflict with the older versions of SONAR that used the Sonitus EQs. It's been a while since I've used X3, but I seem to recall some issue with the X series about importing older projects that used the Sonitus EQ and what was necessary to port those over to the ProChannel.

That said, X3 was a solid release but I greatly prefer Platinum.

is it one of the known issues with x3 maybe? see http://forum.cakewalk.com/Outstanding-Issues-as-of-X3E-UNOFFICIAL-m3009969.aspx for the list
