In Sonar Platinum I'm noticing that sometimes while editing clips and tracks, all the sudden I'll notice some pieces are missing. Then I notice that clips have gotten muted (not by the mute/solo track buttons, but the specific clip mute which you have to hit K or right click the clip and go to clip mute). I'm definitely not doing either, and it happens quite often... especially when loading and editing old projects made in older versions of Sonar.

Any idea what I'm doing that's causing this?

Thanks

Any chance they're being comped out?

Hey, sorry I wanted to bring this thread back up because the issue is much more prevalent now. I'm sure there's a setting i can change.... But as i'm trimming takes, some of my clips just get muted on their own. It's not during recording so I don't think it's comping... Isn't that just for recording? I'm set to sound on sound anyway. Any idea what I would want to look for. Thanks!

Comping is not just for recording. There is a comping recording mode. There are also comping tools for editing in take lanes regardless of the recording mode. See the Comping with the Smart tool and Comping tool section in http://www.cakewalk.com/D...help=Arranging.45.html

Oh I see...Well that clearly explains it that that's what happening so I guess the question is... and I took a quick look and I'm not seeing it so I figure I'll just ask... Can comping with the smart tool be turned off? I usually stick with the smart tool when I'm doing all my editing, and I don't want it to automatically mute clips, and it's happening quite a lot when I work with take lanes... I get the purpose of it but I'd love to turn it off.

No, it's not possible to turn off the Comp Tool mode of the Smart Tool, but its only active in the lower half of clips in lanes; you just need to get used to reaching for the top half when selecting/moving.

Damn. Well I definitely see the use of the tool... Just gotta get used to it... so top does fades, middle cutting or whatever its called, and bottom comps with other takes. Good thing I just got this big higher res monitor haha.
