Old thread alert!

Yeah but probably still valid. Sonar 2015 still does not include MP3 export AFAIK and the LAME encoder is still the recommended free option. Not sure if the process is the same but I'm guessing it is.

If not we could use this opportunity to maybe update the procedure? I haven't used/tried it so others would have to offer their advice.

Kind of wondering now though whether my Pyro license got me the Cakewalk mp3 encoder or if they just tossed the LAME one in there (pretty sure it's the Cake encoder).

And if it IS the Cake encoder maybe there is a LEGAL way to use that in Sonar 2015.

Oh boy... I should just shut up and play my guitar.

Cheers.

Yep, still valid. The process still works as described. There's also a few Youtube vids showing how to set this up as per these instructions.

All you have to do is follow my instructions in the post a few back, and you'll have an integrated MP3 encoder with all 44 options that Lame makes available. Click the link in my signature and use Sonar MP3 patch by Aaron.

Nice. Looks like this has been around for a while - I've never noticed!

Thanks Mike!

Last I heard from Aaron was in about 2012. He'd been away for a while because he'd had a heart attack. I've tried all his contacts and haven't heard from him . I hope he's OK.
His utility is the best around and should be the go to for anyone who wants to have an MP3 encoder installed in Sonar any version.

Aaron's utility is useful to an extent, but it doesn't have ID3 Info support.

I hope he's OK, though.

EDIT

OK, I wasn't aware, but Aaron's MP3 Patch has limited id3 info support (three fields of id3 info), but you can't enter id3 info inside SONAR. You have to enter the id3 info before you apply the patch.

Heck, it's only like $9.99 now to get the activation for the Cakewalk MP3 Encoder. And ID3 info encoding is comprehensive. I think it would be worth it, just to buy the activation. The free stuff is lacking in it's feature set and/or doesn't have the convenience to be used without leaving SONAR.

Thanks, Mike. Don't know Aaron but I too hope he is well.

Well looking at the softpedia comments page, it says that Aaron (Bewza) responded to another user in April 2015.

Unless there's two Aaron Bewzas.

I haven't seen that. I've left messages there but obviously haven't been uploaded by the moderator there. Each message is evaluated for suitability. Perhaps my message was to personal.
