Using X1 Producer.  Is there  a way to clean ONE project's audio folder?

Seems that deleting tracks within Sonar leaves the audio files, which shouldn't be happening, IMHO.  Would like to clean them up.

Usually what I do is a "Save As " after doing a bunch of edits and deleting old audio tracks & performances that are no longer needed in my project....
When I go to do a save as the dialog box will reference the original project in the per project folder ...
I make sure that I have the copy all audio box on the lower left checked .
Instead of typing in a new name I will just click on the SONAR file itself in the folder and choose that as what I'm looking to keep .
Then I hit save , (usually as normal ) what happens next is the box will come up with the SONAR project information .
After clicking OK a new dialog box will come up stating "the name of the song  and this file already exists "
replace  it ? that box will have a yes or a no in it ...after hitting yes I'm good to go ...
IIRC , the project has been cleansed of all the extra files I no longer need . Only what I have kept and saved during the save as  will now be in my SONAR project ...

hope that helps ,

You can export the project as a cakewalk bundle, which will save only the referenced audio, then reopen the bundle and save as a regular project. Just make sure you save the new project audio to a different location to the old.

I often do a "Save As" to a new folder. This will only save the project with the files that are currently in use by the project at the time of the save. All the deletes and extraneous files won't be saved with the new project, you are left with a clean project, and then can delete the original project folder and all those unwanted files. This is also a good way of defragging the project as the computer will most likely save the project as one contiguous section on your HDD.
I'm not sure Kenny's method will delete the files that are no longer in use.
There has been some discussion over the years about Cakewalk making a better "Clean Audio Folder".

Unfortunately only this method as quoted by Tenfoot, i.e., save the project as bundle and then reopen the bundle file and save the project again normally (meaning .cwp) to a different folder, will get rid of all unwanted files.
But as hard drives are so cheap nowadays, I always keep the overbloated project and do a clean save so that I would have both in case.
I always have 3 copies of the clean save, just in case.
Also inside the overbloated project folder I always save to many different names to track my project chronologically in case I need to go back to a certain point and bring up a certain original track.  Never know when you are going to need it.

It is possible that you may be right ...for some odd reason the way I mentioned in my post is how I do it when I keep it on my C drive ...once I have a little steam rolling I always do a save as to an external HD and add the name of the song I'm working on w an ending tag ex  Mix 1 , Mix 2 ...
thanks for pointing  that out ...I'm too lazy to go back and edit my post ...i need some sleep  lol

I've started keeping an archives folder on a separate drive, which contains every take, deleted tracks, everything.

I keep my working projects lean by Save As' ing them to a clean Temp folder, deleting the original files and audio folder, and then copying the files from the Temp folder back to their original location. Make sure that "copy all audio" is selected in the Save As dialogue. It's also a good idea to open the project from the Temp folder and make sure all is well before deleting the original.

I don't trust Clean Audio Folder. Last time I attempted to use it, it deleted all my audio files. All of them. Probably user error, but I don't care. Be sure to back up, whatever you do.
