A heads up for those on Windows 10 who have recently been updated. After mine had updated, I noticed a performance drop and ran Latencymon to find that my on-board HD audio devices which I had previously disabled (as I use my outboard audio controller exclusively) had been re-enabled. For those of you that have had this update, it may be worth going into device manager and checking in case if it has happened to you.
I have now disabled again, but will keep an eye on this when future updates happen.

This happens with every W10 update

Haven't noticed it before with the minor updates but with the two major ones it did. The first time, I thought it was forgetfulness but not the second. V. annoying but I guess worth the trade off as I do like it on the whole.

I've found that if I disable a device/driver in the "Device Manager", Win10 Update does not attempt to install or update the driver.

Somehow, if I disable a device in the general control panel for e.g. printers, audio etc, it does not work consistently as well, and updates may still be installed. Strange.

Edit: clarification.

Might want to check again. I only disable in device manager, and with each W10 update, the HD audio drivers associated with my video card's hdmi interface (nvidia in my case) are re-enabled.

One solution is to disable onboard HD audio in the BIOS.

Cheers, Peter.
