I have, off and on, over the years tried to get a wireless AC7 control surface working on several flavors of Cakewalk/Sonar and struggled mightily with the "Connecting..." issue. Today, I solved it. I just recently upgraded Sonar X1 to Platinum, hoping that there might be a fix in it which would allow my iPad-based AC7 CS to work so I didn't have to sit at my uncomfortable computer desk while trying to keep a creative attitude (I'm a wanna-be singer songwriter type who happens to make a living doing industrial automation programming). The upgrade didn't help me. I cleaned up my PC of old versions of Cakewalk, re-registered (via regsvr32 console command) the MackieControl DLL and it still didn't work. After I found that Cakewalk had gone open-source on the Mackie Control protocol I went and hunted it down , renamed the version sitting in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces, dropped the one I found on GitHub in there and registered it from the command line. Now it works! This has been a long, frustrating journey getting this to work, so I figured that maybe I should post this in the hopes that it may help others.
Cheers!
