  • Take and Autom. lanes-What information does a dimmed blue button convey?

I have a freshly created audio track, totally empty.
The Take Lanes and Automation Lanes buttons are both grey.

I click on the Take or Automation Lanes button.
It goes blue, of course. But there's nothing to see here so I close again.

From now on, these normally grey buttons remain permanently blue forever.
What is a dimmed blue button telling me?
Somebody programmed this, there must have been a reason.

Clicking on automation lanes creates a default Volume envelope. If you delete that envelope, the lane will close and the button will go back to gray. Similarly, if you click the X button to delete the lone take lane, that button will go back to gray.

Ah. Yes, it does.
And I also just noticed, if I drag-drop a .wav file into any freshly created audio track, the take lanes button also goes dimmed blue.
If I then undo it, it goes back to grey.
Thank you. That makes sense.

The blue indicator is only half helpful, so you can forget about it.

Reason:
1. Drag-drop a .mid file into a new MIDI track. The button doesn't go dimmed blue, which is inconsistent with the behavior in audio tracks.
2. You can't tell by the indicator if the track contains only one lane or 2+ lanes.

The Bakers are aware of these.
