Hi,
so i recently recorded a few tracks for a band, and now when i try to open the project file sonar just freezes up with the little timer cursor. there appears to be no fix, i have reinstalled sonar, rolled back a few versions, reinstalled drivers for my interface etc, everything i can think of. please help

Did you try safe mode open (hold shift key while clicking on project name to open)?
 
If that works it's some plugin you added just before closing the last time.

Oh yeah, say no to all plugs to load or you'll likely get the same lock up.

 yeah i have done that and still the same result. the screen is the gray background, with the toolbar at the top, and the windows 'window' border in white. it doesnt say 'not responding' in the header or in task manager.  
 

Hi. Which version of Windows do you have? And what audio interface do you use? I have gotten some update issues with Windows 10 the last couple of weeks.

hi, im using windows 8.1 64-bit. and i have an akai eie pro, but sonar has this issue regardless of weather the interface is plugged in. i have resorted to taking the original recorded audio files and creating a new session with them.

If you go to Preferences (P), under Audio, Devices.
Do you see your audio interface (when plugged in)?
Do you use the latest ASIO drivers? Is Windows up to date?
Do you have the same bit depth in Windows and SONAR?

Does this still work in the latest version of SPlat?  I had trouble with a plugin and sonar kept crashing on loading the project and so I tried to load the project in safe mode by holding down the shift key, but it didn't disable plugins, it just gave me the pop up saying sonar was going to reset personalizations.  but it didn't load without plugins or give me the option.

I thought the "re-personalization" process was performed by holding the Shift key down while opening SONAR itself?  IOW, with SONAR already open, Shift+Opening a project should activate Safe Mode.
