Hi Kenny. Like a lot of my stuff, that sounds like straight 4/4 tune with an internal triplet rhythm. I make it to be about 78BPM.
To set the project, start by playing it back, counting out 8 measures in your head and stopping the transport close to 9:01. Zoom in and set the Now time right on the downbeat for what should be 9:01. Then hit Shift+M to Set Measure/ Beat At Now, and give it Measure 9, Beat 1. SONAR will reset the initial tempo to align the timeline to that point.
Then you can go back and set additional beats as necessary to follow the measure-to-measure variations. Then do the same for the rest of the piece. Depending on how solid the tempo is, setting every 4 measures or so might be enough.
I didn't see an option to download the clip from SoundCloud, or I'd be happy to do it for you.
Hi David ,
It has been a while since we talked ...it's great to see you
You bring up an interesting view point . Whenever I play this piece on my guitar I'm thinking in 3 .
It never occurred to me that it could be a slow 4 4 with a triplet feel ...
You have brought up some good techs on how to set the tempo .....
I need to give them a go once I recover from last nights Bass tracking session ..I'm sort of feeling a little crisp around the edges from hefting them big strings around
I made the song available as a download after reading your post .
The only difference between the song I have up and my SONAR project is I put about a second of space before the song starts on SoundCloud ...The SONAR Project starts on the first downbeat ....
I would be grateful to you David for any help you may consider offering me ...
That includes adding a part or multiple parts if you so desire .
all the best ,
Kenny
