Hi all, I'm interested in purchasing Sonar, but want to make sure I don't get any driver issues out of the gate, so I'm asking what might seem like a stupid question.

Can I assume that any USB-1/4in. adapter (for plugging a guitar in) will work just fine with Sonar, or have there been driver issues in the past?

Thanks!

There is no right 1/4"-to-USB adapter.
Get an audio interface that supports ASIO and has guitar and mic inputs.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to hold off on buying a full audio interface as those can get expensive and I'm just a student in college, so I'm looking for a simple cable for my guitar to hold me over.

Hi. I would agree with Greg.
Check out secondhand. Tascam, Focusrite, Presonus etc are good.
What kind of budget did you have in mind?
All the best.
And welcome.

I found this one:

Just a simple interface for a guitar, nothing more. It has ASIO driver on it, so I think it should work fine. My main purpose for posting here is just to make sure there's no common caveats that come with hooking an interface up to Sonar.

Hmm. It doesn't let me post links here.

It's a Behringer Guitar Link UCG102

Your account it to new and you lack the required number of posts to add links. I believe the current threshold is 3 days and 25 posts.

That's fair!

I have never used the device. Keep in mind when using ASIO mode, only one driver may be selected for input and output. This means when using the Behringer Guitar Link UCG102 you will only be able to hear the DAW output through the headphone output of the UCG102. If you want to listen though some other device after using the UCG102, you will have to reconfigure SONAR.

I have never used this product either however the Amazon reviews of this are not great.  I would also advise getting an audio interface.
