I would say that any frustrations that I've had previously with Sonar have dropped 90% with the last few updates. Performance wise it's on fire at this point, and I feel like I'm (largely) at one with the Sonar workflow. These are indeed golden times at Cakewalk.

I like it. It is the only DAW I know. Since Home Studio 4.

There was a bit of a transition in thinking after using Reason for a while, but yeah -- SONAR Platinum just rocks once you get it under your control a bit.

Mark me down as "happy" as well.  I love the "subscription" model as well.  I think the Sonar team provides excellent service and their temperament is a benchmark for the business.  And this forum is tiptop for help and support.

Totally happy with Sonar Platinum and the new direction CW is taking er.

With the new format, I've learned to use more of Sonar then I had even attempted before!
The program runs faster, sharper and has been overall more reliable.
I enjoy using Sonar and look forward to using it as often as possible.
Isn't that what it's about?  Getting me to make more music?

I started with Sonar because I couldn't afford Pro Tools.  At the time, Pro Tools was considered the software that "real" engineers used while Cakewalk was the poor mans option (and I fit the description).  Fast forward a decade and here I am, still using Sonar NOT because I cannot afford to purchase Pro Tools; but because I choose Sonar.  I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given to work with Pro Tools (its definitely quality software), but I always turn down the opportunity to switch over because I simply feel Sonar is far more innovative and user focused than any other software I've used.  Granted, there may be some level of comfort associated with my opinion, but I can also draw clear comparisons in which I believe Sonar comes out on top for what I am looking for in a DAW.  So, to conclude this message I will say THANKS SONAR for the awesome platform and for putting up with my whiny complaints! Your the best in my book.  Now, about that vocal rider plug in Ive been asking for....

I miss Sonar. I just couldn't stand Windows anymore and switched to Mac. This was, however, after 4 years contemplating to do the switch. Eventually I decided I had to let Sonar go. I still have it on a Windows partition to open old projects, but my main DAW is Logic. I'm like an old granny with Logic but I'm liking it more and more and have finished quite a few projects. But leaving Sonar was not because I didn't love the software anymore. Opening it up in Windows feels like home. Then Windows find a way to piss me off again. I would love to see Sonar on Mac but I am not holding my breath.

Anyway, thumbs up for Sonar and for this forum. it's all great stuff! Loving Sonar, and I miss it. I still visit the forum from time to time

The whole concept of Pro Tools turned me off even before I really got into recording.

Proprietary gear to use the program?

Dongles to "prove" I'm not a thief despite paying a butt ton of scratch?

Plugins must be deemed "worthy" by the lords of Avid to work in the program?

Fudge that noise. I know it's not QUITE as bad as that anymore since they started catering to the "hobbyiest" but the distaste was already there.

Also the film place I used to work at as a grunt used Avid systems in their editing bays. All the production/editing nerds made up a series of kitchy stickers with the slogan "Avid Sucks" and plastered them on the systems in protest.

That was a REAL company that churned out "for broadcast" video and even films. I didn't know WTF it all meant back then (because I was just swinging hammers, hauling trash and scrubbing toilets) but yeah... even the "pros" were/are sick of their shiz.

If I got my grubby paws on a proper PT setup would I give it a whirl? Definitely... but I sure ain't twisting my nuts up over not having it. It is WAY down the list of DAWs I would buy if I had the cash.

/typical anti PT rant

Edit: I think I would like Logic... but I don't think I'll ever be able to afford a Mac any time soon.
