after todays win 10 pro update I can't get any project to play without random then slowly building crackling until all waves are replaced with crackling harmonies in place or audio tracks. I was using Asio to start, then tried MME drivers will not load. I have to reboot the computer for the problem to stop. but with in 1st play of playing new tracks it begins crackling again.
a few audio dropouts as well.

Win 10 pro 64bit
Splat Lex
8 gigs

4th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-4210U Processor (3M Cache, up to 2.70GHz)
Tascam US 1200
Recording in 24 bit.

I just set this laptop up over the weekend and did some recording and reloading CWB projects on the laptop as well and nothing is working now.

Any Ideas what's going on?

Thanks

Check the drivers on your Tascam to make sure they are current. If they are try uninstalling the drivers and then reload the driver.  It sounds like the update changed something about the way the USB is working.

Welcome.

Imo it´s no surprise, that your are having pops and crackles during
a playback aso, cause the cpu of your machine delivers 1,7 ghz only.
System requirements for Splat recommend , if I remember right, 2,66 ghz.

So you will be happy if there is a work around ,
but basically the cpu is to slow.

You wrote that Splat
was working good with Win 7 before ? This makes me curious .
If ves- what buffersize aso?
Have recorded audio during the first 2 days? How many tracks you had in this projects?

For mixing aso ,you can try a bigger buffersize, 516 and above.
Unfortunately Cpu Booster aso are not properly working with DAW´s,
 so this is no option.

Thanks for the advise :) I will remember it for next time, but I found that I could uninstall the latest version of Win 10 and that fixed the problem.

Not sure what that means,
does that mean that your Cpu is 2,4 ghz ,not 1,7 ?

Good to hear, that your prob is solved.

Ok, just read about your corrected system specs, seems to be a
2,2 ghz cpu - up to 2,7 ghz.
