This is a timely thread.  I almost purchased one of these RNC 1773 Compressor's on eBay this morning.  I got beat out in the last seconds.

Steve, what are your impressions of this unit?  I am planning on using one innitially on vocals, on the front end of my tracking, just to put a touch of compression on the track on the way in.  I may just go new unit and by pass all of the bidding frenzy.

Mike,

I don't know if you're still looking for an RNC, I have a pair racked up that I use and a third unit that I don't need (long story). If you're interested, PM me.

The RNC 1773 is a really clean and subtle compressor when used sparingly, it may be me but my problem in the beginning was overdoing it when compressing stuff, subtle is the way to go. Great bit of kit and well worth the money.

Apologies for the really late reply on this I have been lost in the world of home recording for a few months and haven't been on here for a while, I really need to use this site more as its a mine of information and there are some really helpful people out there.
