I have a Korg NanoKontrol, control surface, that I set up in Sonar Platinum on Windows 7.  I'd like to use this with Sonar Platinum and Win 10.  However, I can't find where the Cakewalk Generic Surface data is stored on the Win 7 system so I can import the data to Sonar Platinum in Win 10.

Thanks/Jack

It's in \ProgramData\Cakewalk\ACT Data

I found that, but there is more to it than that.  I've found it listed in the Registry (in Win 7) along with the ProgramData\Cakewalk\ACT Data.

I copied the "nanokontrol" file from Win 7 ......ACT Data to Win 10 ....ACT Data; and also created the same registry entries as Win 7 (and then rebooted) but that still does not configure the Korg nanokontrol like it is in Win 7.

The ACT MIDI Controller setup (learn) that is in Platinum does not allow learning/setting all the controls on the controller like I did originally in X2 or X3 - I don't remember which version I had when I got the controller. Platinum automatically included it and no additional setup was required in Platinum when I upgraded.

Are you looking for ACT mapping files with per VST mapping or configuration for the controller?

There is no changes in CS plug-ins since X2. If you was working with all controls, you probably was using "Generic Surface" or a combination of "Generic Surface" and "ACT MIDI" plug-ins. Or may be MackieControl.

In Windows 10, presets are in AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Shared Presets (one folder per plug-in). You can try to copy ctlsurface.dat (currently in AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum) from the version you think was working fine.

The Win7 version IS working fine (I have a dual boot system with Win 7 and Win 10).  It is a Cakewalk generic surface, my mistake on ACT.    That was what I wound up doing in Win 10, programming the nanoKontrol as a generic surface.  Like the Win 7/Sonar installation I got everything except the global "undo" button programmed.  There is nothing in the Cakewalk generic surface setup for global "undo".

The nanoKontroller is only a backup for my BCF2000.

Anyone?   Although I took care of the problem by manually programming it in Platinum/Win 10, it would be good to know where the file is, for future reference.

Not looking for ACT data.  I corrected my post, 2 days ago, to indicate the "Cakewalk Generic Surface".

In the original system, save your modified GCS as a preset.
Open the registry editor and search for that name.
It should be found as a key value under an entry in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\ControlSurfaces\Presets\

This will tell you which funky-named directory under C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Shared Presets\ you will find the saved config in.

If there aren't many directories, it might be faster to just look in each of them until you find your preset instead of dinking around searching the registry.

I found my what I thought was my original nanokontrol setup in Win 7, both in the Registry and in C:\Program Data\Cakewalk/Shared Presets.  I copied both the registry entry and the naokontrol file from the Shared Presets to the Windows 10 Registry and Shared Presets, but what Sonar "saw" was only a partial set up.  I tried several things and putting the nanokontrol surface setup in the User folder (where it was also located) and another location that I don't remember where it was.  Anyway, I duplicated everything I found on my Win 7 install on my Win 10 installation and when I selected the Cakewalk Generic Surface the nanokontroller didn't work.   Only after manually programming it, in Sonar Platinum Win 10 did it work.

There's still something missing, along with what has been listed.
