  • SOLVED Where is Cakewalk Generic surface data stored? (p.2)

Note that "C:\Program Data\Cakewalk/Shared Presets" is different from "C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Shared Presets\"

Finding the data and getting it properly imported are obviously two distinctly different steps.  The system is obviously generating those GUID-ish directory names, so simply copying from one system to another is a low-percentage step.

I didn't readily see a way to do direct export/import CS data, which seems odd considering there is an Import option for ACT in Prefs, but no Export.  It seems this is intended to only come from vendors.

There may not be any way to do it, although there should be.  I'm a computer tech and have dug deeper than most trying to find it.

BTW, I used to live in KC.

From there, or transplant for a while?  I grew up north of St Louis, left in the late 70s, then back to Boonies, MO about 9 years ago.

I visited KC a bit as a teen.  Very cool town, but imagine it's a lot different now as most places are.

Maybe an FR is in order for CS configuration export/import.  Have you searched the KB for a secret process?

Thinking outloud, I wonder if Azslow's plugin has import/export capability?

Maybe Azslow will chime in.

I lived in KC for 23 years, until I retired in 96 and became a "Florida Retiree".
I used to go to St Louis every labor day for the International Steel Guitar Convention, that used to be held downtown at the Millennium Hotel (the twin round tower hotel across from the Arch).

Import / export of CS presets is possible via Cakewalk Plugin-Manager, under "Plugin Category", last entry.

Best,
Klaus

EXCELLENT!  My modified MPD26 presets are right there.

Thanks Klaus.

The nanokontrol (name I gave it) is not listed.  I exported the nanokontrol (renamed it nanokontrol2) from the Win 7 Platinum and tried to import it into the Win 10 Platinum Control Surfaces but it does not show up.

Disappointing.  Sounds like at least you're down to something that can be reported as a problem for the Bakers to fix.  That's at least 4 steps closer than a feature that doesn't exist.
