As great as AudioSnap tends to be, why is it not working for me in this instance.  One of the things I use Sonar and AudioSnap for is to build click tracks for our drummer.  I have a midi track that has cowbells to serve as the click, then I import the actual song on an audio track.  I use AudioSnap to determine the average tempo of the song.  Many times, I'll want to speed it up a few BPM to make the track dancier, or what have you.  Obviously, the Midi track with the cowbells updates, but when I select the audio track (in this case the MP3 of the song), and open AudioSnap then select "Clip Follows Project", it doesn't speed up the audio.  I feel as though I've tried everything, but the transients don't move at all...the tempo map will change, but the transients stay right where they're at.  I've got Sonar Platinum with the latest Lexington update.

On my cell here so need to get on the computer to type more. Are you trying to make a click track to do a cover? I.e. you want to extract the tempo map from a pre-recorded song (the mp3 file)?

Virtually 100% correct.  I realize that most recorded songs vary (even a little bit) so the average tempo that Sonar picks up on is not exactly right at any one point of the song, so I use it to find the "very close" tempo (if it reads 120.32, I assume it should be 120.  But, I'd like to make it 124 or so and would like to hear what the song sounds like at 124 so I know I'm not speeding it up TOO much.  In ProTools, it's super easy..in fact it's automatic when you import audio...it's set to change the speed of the audio when you change the project tempo.  It's not happening with Sonar.

I made a thread a few months ago doing such with AC/DC's "Highway to Hell." That song is interesting in not only does the tempo walk a lot, but the song is also tuned 40 cents flat. The easiest process I found was in Post #8 on that thread.
 
Just in case (or for others reading), adjusting a tempo map does not alter the audio in any way, but allows for measures to align properly for MIDI-fired notes/drums to the original song. Tempo maps are set per project, so once that has been done, one can play with MIDI/audio to that guide track and keep them in synch.
 
AudioSnap unto itself is a tool box with many features, but for laying down a drum/bass track against an original, I have found the above useful. "Setting Measure/Beat at Time now" can also be very useful, but fell apart for me when I realize this tune "walked" so much. That has quickest application on something recorded to a click track.

afaik you could make the audio file into a 'groove clip' by rightclicking on it, choose 'goove clip etc'.
I'm not familiar with this stuff, but know doubleclicking the audio clip, will open the 'loop constrution view', there too you can edit tempo etc.
iic once you have the audio as a groove clip, then you can lock it to the midi tempo..
