Just wondering what everybody's experience has been so far...

I let mine upgrade this afternoon (I have Win 10 Professional so I can switch updates on or off) based on being able to roll back easily. So far tonight, not a glitch, it seems all good.

Not sure if it was related but after my Win 10 updated one of my 2 TB drives 'disappeared'.

It reappeared after a restart.

Thx guys.

Dl'ing it now to one of my non-music partitions so I can beat it up there before I decided to put it on my studio box.

Well I def ran into probs.

Specs - i7, 16 gig RAM, UAD-2, 4 1 TB HD's

After the November Update I started up SPLAT and it really took a LONG time to come up.  I have various UAD and Slate plugs set up in my template and here is where the probs began.

Firstly I got a message that "The iLok service could not be started...." (my Slate plugs are iLok and I've never had an issue before this).  Secondly my UAD monitor applet started saying there was no UAD hardware installed even though I could plainly see it in Device Manager. Also SPLAT started complaining that there was no UAD h/w installed (I had a few plugs in my template)

UGH.

Downloaded and re-installed all the Slate plugs AND new iLok manager.  No change.  Dammit.
Downloaded and re-installed mu UAD stuff - No change.  Dammit again.

Then I started - or tried to start - Wavelab.  Something to the effect of "Unable to start as its not licensed"....Screw this...

Backed out of the new build and back to the version I had previously (luckily W10 lets you do that fairly easily) and all the issues went away.

By then it was 0200 and time to call it a night.   I'm gone for the next few days and will try again at a later date...

Interested to hear how everything went for those of you with UAD, Wavelab and any iLok plugs....

Not on Windows 10 yet, but there was another update last night. When there are two days of updates in a row like that, it may indicate the second is fixing issues with the first?

Oh wow - didn't know that.

Thx Craig !

Yeah, I have Win 10 Pro as well. I like being able to stop the auto downloads/updates in their tracks with the Pro version. I haven't updated anything Win 10 Pro related in months. I will probably do the cumulative TB2 update this weekend, as I can easily roll it back if there are any issues. I do have a lot of UA hardware (PCIe cards/Apollo), plug-ins and iLok 2 (Slate, Lexicon, etc.). I am not anticipating any issues, but we'll see how it goes......

Cheers,

This is one of the main reasons I took my Windows box off line. I may not have the latest updates (the overwhelming majority of which are security issues related to internet connections), but my system is stable. When you have stuff that needs to be done, there is something to be said for a machine that you know is stable and didn't update itself overnight (cause you can't control updates in the 'Home' edition). It will work the same today as it did yesterday and will tomorrow.

Actually my studio box is offline and I only go online for updates and such.  I also wouldn't *trust* any unattended update.

Unfortunately I'm leaving shortly for a brief road trip so cannot troubleshoot what happened until next week.

Billy Buck - looking forward to hearing how you fared w/ UAD and iLok...
