I had to run the XLN installer after the update, but calling it an update is perhaps a little under stated. So far no other issues but there's a lot of things left to check.

I had the same issue with XLN but everything else seems to be running fine.  Fingers crossed.
I have the Korg Legacy collection and usually it complains about any major changes to the OS, but no issues there.

Windows 10 decided to upgrade today. The whole process took about 5 hours. Now Sonar Pro crashes immediately at startup.

I've been experiencing some USB-related mystery since the original upgrade in the summer - something causes Sonar to hang when loading a project. Due to all these problems, I have finished almost no projects in the last 3 months.

There is something about older USB gear that seems to confuse Windows 10. But the crashing application is a new one on me. Boo hiss - error logs are winging there way to those wonderful folk at Sonar tech support again  hopefully they can save me once again.

Windows 10 and Sonar? It's cost me a lot of time and money so far, but I hope in the end it's better than keeping an out of date studio. Reinstalling my apps and OS every time there is an "upgrade" is not something we should have to accept. I just want to make music.

Have Universal Audio, Cakewalk or any ilok based vast vendors made any comments ?

I'm on the road and unfortunately not in a position to check but will tomorrow...

Which is why you should always wait at least 6 months before installing any brand new OS on a critical machine. Unless you don't mind running into issues and involuntary testing other software.

Roll back works quite well.

And I have a full backup on a separate hard drive.

No production outage.

Twice in the last week I've gotten this: I'll just type what it says because for some reason I can no longer upload a picture to a message here (I have to host it somewhere online then put the ink in the box), the utility to upload a picture just has a blank box where there should be the place to enter the file info... but anyway that is a different problem
So I bet a BLUE SCREEN with a frown face. Then it says, Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, then you can restart. (xx% complete).
If you'd like to know more you can search online later for:
Page_Fault_in_nonpaged_area.
I looked it up but it IIRC, it was over my head. In any case it seems that a restart usually fixes anything with W-10. I had to rollback one update about a month ago. Another thing that no longer works right for me is my fingerprint scanner/encryption. When I reboot, it does not work. After I logon with my PW, then it works if I close the lid for a while but it will not encrypt files anymore. Thanks MS...

On another note, I get a little pleasure out of telling MS that I do not like any of the pictures they load on my lock screen, or whatever screen it is.

I don't know if it is a W-10 or a Sonar thing but I get multiple error windows involving BitBridge whenever I rescan for VSTs, I noted that today when I added Amplitude4 to my laptop. I don't remember if I get these on my DAW, W-8.1, I'll check tomorrow. I'd be interested in any input on it.

Reboot... it is the new W-10 fix for everything...

I had many issues the minute I upgraded and decided no point and even trying to trouble shoot as my HP Windows 7 was running great!
  • Firewire devices didn;t work
  • UAD not working
  • SOme plugins wouldn;t load
  • Other things as well
  • I rolled back within 30 minutes becasue again, why should I have to fight those battles...   Everything worked great on Win 7 and it will be supported well into this decade.  As long as Sonar doesn;t abandon Win 7 we're OK.   In fact, if Sonar never gave me another update, it wouldn't even  bother me as Sonar, as it stands today,  is so powerful already, nothing else will make my recording sound any better.  My skills are the only real limitation anymore.   I make pretty good recordings and I still maybe only use 30% of all the capabilities in Sonar so in my book.. screw Windows 10!

Have you tried going to your laptop manufacturer's website and doing any updates they have there for you? Laptops generally have various tailored drivers and apps and it's good practice to update these where possible anyway, but especially with a major OS upgrade. First thing I did after installing Windows 10 on my laptop was to go to the Lenovo site and find out what updates were available. There was quite a bunch of stuff related to Windows 10. My laptop is working great with 10 - granted I only use it for business things and not music, but it might be worth a try anyway in case it fixes any of your issues.

I never use Addictive Drums so I didn't notice it required re-registering for my Win 10 PC.  Actually, it had not been updated since I had Win 8.1 when Sonar Platinum and added software was first installed.   After seeing posts here about it, I tried it and had to update.
