win 10 upgrade has been a real problem for me on my win 8.1 laptop. My DELL win 7 laptop upgraded no problems to win 10 but my HP laptop with win 8.1 goes through the update and starts final install but fails with error 80004005. Then just asks me to reinstall still using the old win 8.1. I have read all the online advice but think I shall forget about the upgrade  its taking to much time I want to make music on Sonar not faf about with operating systems.

I've seen this multiple times.

Here's the procedure.

1) Disable any automatic booting from CD in BIOS.
2) Backup.
3) Download the media disk:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
4) Create a new windows user account. Log into this account.
5) Disable your virus scanners.
6) Run setup from the DVD within Windows. Do NOT boot off this disk at any stage (see point 1).

If this fails try again with a different option (click "change what to keep"):

Cheers...

Cakewalk does not write drivers or bundle them with the software. For the VS700 see http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3206046

I feel your pain.. Besides being a musician/singer/songwriter - I am a computer security engineer and have been around machines all the way back to the days to the DEC PDP-1170. (A long time ago) - This latest November patch release is a disaster for me - It causes an almost instantaneous crash of Sonar Platinum - UNACCEPTABLE! This is not a Cakewalk issue - it is solely Windows 10 (new patch) I have it configured so that Win 10 updates are "delayed" - and the machine has to ask my permission. I have to watch it like a hawk or it will try and push the patch, and I have to tell it no (which in Win10 speak is "later" not never). When it does sneak it past - I have to roll back - a few days later it tries again. I can't really debug and Windows does not say what is causing the crash. I am considering rolling back to 8.2 as I don't really like to and don't have the time to fight with an operating system. I run my own box, with an AMD Phenom II Quad core, 2TB of storage and 128K of RAM. IMHO Win 10 is not a stable OS and the latest patch should never have been pushed without more QA

I have a problem with the latest Windows 10 December update in Sonar Platinum and X3 Producer. It appears that my XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2' is now giving me the following message (Wrong computer id. Please make sure that your host in not run in compatibility mode. If this is not the case run the XLN Online Installer to authorize and likewise check that it is not run in compatibility mode).

I don't think I can set up another computer ID name in my XLN Online Installer account' because we're only allowed to have one or two of them'. Either way, I shouldn't have to do this'... it was done a long time ago'.

In a related issue, as soon as the update completed'... I lost all internet access because the drivers to my former Cisco USB WiFi adapter went obsolete, and Cisco will not support it for Windows 10 it seems' - so I had to buy a TP-Link WiFi N USB adapter a couple days ago'... which permits me to type this post ! Umm... thanks Microsoft... I think'..

I've just applied the Windows 10 "Fall Update".

Addictive Drums 2 thinks my computer has changed to the point where it says that "There is an authorization problem" and "please run the installer"

(My project played back OK, but I'm not confident that will be the case for much longer, without some kind of intervention.)

When I run the XLN Online Installer, it says "You currently have your maximum amount of active computers. Remove old unused computers if you need to register a new computer."

Both "slots" - apparently you can register two computers - are the same physical machine. I think I used up the second slot when I re-installed AD after I upgraded to Windows 10 from Win 7, a few months ago.

One of them is labelled "Windows 10 64-bit", the other is "Other/don't know".
I'm going to try "removing" the computer in the second slot, and see if AD magically becomes authorized on this computer.

UPDATE:
The XLN Installer allowed me to re-register the PC, then asked to update the Installer app itself, then said 1 item needed updating: "XLN Cloud Sync". I don't know or care what that is, but it only took a few minutes.

My project now opens without warning messages.

Thanks for this post' stickman393. I too' have XLN Audio's AD2 and experienced the identical problem inside of both Sonar Platinum' and X3 Producer' when my Windows 10 update happened. After I did what you did, it stopped.
