Yes, although Sonar may suggest 16 beat 4 by default.

I am saying use beat 1 of measure 17 because that will probably be easier to see in the audio.

If you can see measure 16 beat 4, by all means, use that.
Just so long as the position of your cursor and what you tell Sonar is the same.

I have to shut down now, I'm sure you're fine from here.

I have run the check and it is telling me that the actual bpm is 118.53, not the 120 it is supposed to be. Bit of a blow.

I have also played the Sonar metronome and the Tyros metronome simultaneously at 120bpm... and I'm afraid that the Tyros soon starts to lag behind.
Will Yamaha be able to fix this?

If it worked correctly before then I don't know if they will. I have no idea what might cause it but a Yahama service center would be the place to ask. If you have any other standalone rhythm sources it might be worth checking them against the Tyros first.

I've googled a little and found some user reports. One person said that if he had to many things in "USER" this started to happen. Another thing I figured is that perhaps your tempo controls are a little corroded and the tempo dial or "tempo down" knob may be triggering erratically.

Thanks so much for this.
Alas, I have little if anything in "User".
Actually, while you are there - I just performed a full system restore. Thought I had nothing to lose. Trouble is, the Auto Accomp styles now don't seem to work, and nor does the metronome. It's some ten years since I last set this thing up... I thought that the Auto Accomp was factory set to be triggered by playing chords or single notes on the far left of the keyboard. Now I am sometimes getting voices, but no accompaniment. Any advice?

Hi to whoever might still be prepared to tune in.
I did a factory reset, have got the Tyros up and working, recorded a basic style at 106bpm with the X1 metronome playing at the same time.
All sounded great, until - bizarrely - 1min 13 secs (again!) when there was a noticeable loss of sync. Brand new project, brand new everything.
How can this even be possible?!?
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have two methods.
1. Stretch (actually, squeeze) the recorded result back up to 120, or
2. Record once, set Sonar's tempo to what your Tyros is generating, then record again.
Try both, use the one that suits you. With the second method, you can continue recording the remaining tracks without any additional work.

You should probably at least take Sonar completely out of the equation. If you don't have a standalone metronome to test with, just google "online metronome" and test with the first several in the results list. Make sure nothing but your browser is running while testing, and see what the results are. If it still drifts, at least you'll know it's not some kind of interaction between Sonar and your Tyros. I don't know how good the online metronomes really are, but if you check with several you should get some kind of idea what's going on.

Some help:
You can see the waveform of your recording. And you can see at the start of the song how the overall repeating pattern fits within the grid lines. Choose a prominent feature in that waveform, usually the bass drum, and just go to the very end, shrink it in and line it up with the grid line to match the start of the song. Two or three tries, and you're done.

I do it every day.

But in your case what you should do is record the first track and let it go out of sync.
Then use the second method I showed you to tell Sonar what the real tempo is.
Once Sonar has that tempo, Sonar will be in sync as long as you leave Tyros at that tempo.

By the way, does the Tyros show the tempo on a display somewhere? Does it display a constant 120?

Edit: Oh. I was on the previous page. I fear I may have repeated myself.
